Phycocyanin is a natural water-soluble protein-pigment refined from Spirulina platensis and Spirulina maxima through low-temperature cell-wall disruption, aqueous-phase extraction, membrane-separation purification and spray-drying. As the signature core active substance of spirulina, it is a domestically compliant raw material for food and health-food applications. It shall be used in accordance with GB 2760 and the Catalogue of Raw Materials for Health Foods. It possesses four core attributes: high protein purity, strong antioxidant activity, natural water-soluble colouring capacity and favourable human absorbability.
